Robert W. Giebink

MD, Psychiatrist

I graduated from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine with my medical degree in 1992. I continued my medical training in the General Psychiatry Residency program at the USD School of Medicine in Sioux Falls, completing my specialty training in 1996. I began my independent medical career as a staff psychiatrist working at the Sioux Falls VA Medical Center. I have worked for 7 years at the Human Service Agency in Watertown. I was the adult psychiatrist and medical director at HAS and have provided services at the Keystone Treatment Center in Canton, SD.

I have a wealth of experience working with adults in many psychiatric settings. I treat the full range of common psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders such as bipolar and major depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia. I have particular interest in helping people with co-occurring disorders, such as substance abuse in patients who have mood and/or anxiety disorders. I provide medication management but understand the importance and effectiveness of other treatment modalities, including individual counseling, group therapy and 12-Step programs, as well as more intensive outpatient services for people afflicted with serious mental illness.

Approved for Medicaid, Medicare, multiple insurance companies.
